Ibiza y Formentera Archeological Museum- Dalt Vila Site

Ibiza and Formentera Archeological Museum is formed by two sites, one in Dalt Vila and another one in Puig des Molins. The Archeological Museum is the institution in charge of the conversation, research, and exhibition of the material historical remains of Ibiza and Formenteras’s past history. These islands where known by classical authors, who referred to them as the Pityusic Islands, distinguishing them from the rest of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca and Menorca).

It is located in the high part of the old city, Dalt Vila, in the Cathedral Square, together with the castle, the Bishop's house, the curia house, the Mirador, from which the lower city can be controlled visually (La Marina and the port), and Santa María church, transformed into a cathedral in 1785.

This museum was created in 1907, thanks to the collection donated to the state by the Ebusitan Archeological Society that has dug throughout Ibiza and Formentera (mainly Puig des Molins Necropolis, Sa Barda and Ses Torres, and S'Illa Plana and Es Culleram sanctuaries) since its foundation in 1903.
