A journey into Santa Eulària’s milling past

To get a sense of what Santa Eulària was like before the arrival of tourism, visit this old farmhouse and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the historic site of Puig de Missa. A visit to the Can Planetes River Interpretation Centre will allow you to identify the characteristic features of Ibizan architecture and learn about the village’s milling tradition. This activity brought great prosperity to Santa Eulària thanks to the hydraulic power provided by the only river in the Balearic Islands, which flows underground for most of its course.

The Can Planetes watermill, of Andalusian origin, remained in operation until the 1950s and can now be seen in working order thanks to a careful restoration. The visit also offers an insight into the traditional irrigation system which, via canals and irrigation channels, connected the river to the mill and the nearby vegetable gardens. A suggestion? Take the River Route path and stroll alongside the riverbed to the nearby mouth.
