Puig de Missa in Northern Ibiza

The most populous parish in the municipality of Sant Joan grew up around its 14th-century fortified church, built atop a hill. From this strategic vantage point, its rural population kept watch over the coast and protected the plains from attacks by Barbary pirates. What to See in Sant Miquel

The Church of Saint Michael the Archangel has been designated a Site of Cultural Interest and is one of Ibiza’s four fortress churches, along with those of Sant Antoni, Sant Jordi, and Santa Eulària. When you visit, take note of a 19th-century frieze running along the walls of the nave, which depicts the capture of the British ship Felicity by Ibizan privateers and a scene in which a parish priest visits the home of a dying local.

After visiting the church, admire the beautiful panoramic view that awaits you along the path circling the hill and enjoy a snack with a view of the church. we recommend visiting the tourist town of Port de Sant Miquel, where you can swim at the beach, visit the Can Marçà karst cave, or hike or kayak to the unspoiled coves of Es Caló des Moltons and Es Pas de s’Illa des Bosc.omez (1913 - 2002) can be appreciated.

The “Port de Sant Miquel” is a beach with a length of 110 m and a width of 68 m. Visitors will find the sand of the beach of a coarse grain type and encounter clear waters. In addition, this beach is immersed in a large natural bay which lies between two lush pine hills, with designated areas for the launch of fishing and pleasure boats. “Port de Sant Miquel” is a tourist resort. Very close to “Port of Sant Miquel” are some very attractive coves because of their virgin state, such as “Es Caló des Moltons” and “Es Pas de s'Illa des Bosc”. 

A tip: From June through September, traditional Ibizan dance performances (ball pagés) are held in the church courtyard on Thursday afternoons.
