Simplicity and tranquillity for contemporary worship

The parish church of Santa María de la Iglesia was inaugurated in 1971 to meet the needs of parishioners who had been settling in this area – located less than 2 kilometres from the town of Ibiza – since the 1950s. It is a modern, functional building, the interior of which features a carved image of the Mare de Déu dating from between the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as an altarpiece in oil and fine gold leaf on linen and wood, signed by the contemporary painter Lirios Doménech Bardisa.
