Route Sant Carles BTT

Circular route and perfectly signposted. The terrain is asphalt and dirt, with an IBP difficulty index of 27, making it an accessible and very complete route that combines varied landscapes, spectacular views and points of cultural interest.

It begins and ends at the 18th century church of Sant Carles, which, apart from its interior, has a porch with columns and a well.
Shortly after starting, you pass by the old «Fuente de Peralta» and next to the museum of «Es Trull de Can Andreu», where old peasant tools are preserved and which is a very interesting example of traditional Ibizan architecture.

Then we start a gentle descent to the coast. The route passes, amidst spectacular views, the coves of Mestella, Boix and Canal den Marti (Pou des Lleó), where you can enjoy a refreshing swim and the pleasure of seafood cuisine in any of the restaurants.

Before returning inland, the route makes a detour to the «Torre de Campanitx». A gentle uphill dirt track in very good condition leads us to the defensive tower dating back to 1763. In this section, a natural area of special interest, you can observe spectacular pine trees and junipers of twisted shapes, as well as a varied representation of the flora and fauna of the island, of great ecological value. From the tower there is a marvellous view of the coast, from Cala Sant Vicent to Cap Roig, with the fantastic island of Tagomago in the foreground, a refuge for colonies of birds.

The return journey takes us through cultivated fields, where we can observe the traditional rural life of Ibiza. The route passes through almond orchards, carob trees, olive trees, vines and fig trees, where the peace and quiet makes us enjoy the island landscape as it was in the olden days.

On the route there are two small shops where you can buy food and drink. On Saturdays you can also visit the famous Dalias market in Sant Carles and on Sundays the flea market in Cala Llenya.
