The second-largest church on the island
This church is located in Dalt Vila, between the Santa Llucia bastion and Ibiza City Hall, which is housed in what was once the cloister of the Santo Domingo convent, of which the church was a part. Before continuing on to the cathedral, be sure to visit it!
Built in the 17th century, it differs in many ways from the island’s other churches, notably in its size, which makes it the second-largest in Ibiza, after the Cathedral of Santa María itself. Its structure features a single nave with eleven side chapels, three of which stand out because they are crowned by three Valencian-style domes.
Inside, be sure to also take a look at the frescoes on the main vault (19th century) by the Mallorcan painter Vicenç Mata, and at the Chapel of Sant Crist del Cementeri, one of the most revered by the people of Ibiza.
A tip: If you’re visiting Ibiza during Holy Week, be sure to go on Palm Sunday to see the blessing of the palm branches and the start of the procession.
