3 villages in Santa Eulària des Riu to discover

Santa Eulària des Riu is much more than its promenade and quiet beaches.
In its interior and on the eastern coast there are hidden villages with their own identity, history, local life and corners that invite you to stop and look around.
Today we propose you to discover three of them, perfect for a leisurely getaway with an authentic Ibizan flavour.
Rural essence and free spirit in Sant Carles de Peralta

Sant Carles de Peralta occupies the entire eastern part of the municipality and combines inland and coastal landscapes like few others, ideal for walking and exploring.
The town was born around its church, built at the end of the eighteenth century, which stands out for one of the most unique columns in the rural environment of Ibiza. It is no coincidence that Archduke Luis Salvador praised the beauty of this place...
Sant Carles is also known for its marked personality, influenced by the arrival of the hippie community in the 60s.
Today that footprint is still alive in its markets of Las Dalias and Punta Arabí, cultural and artisanal references of the island, where tradition and creativity continue to coexist naturally.
Around it, historic fountains, defensive towers and places such as Es Pou des Lleó or Ca n'Andreu des Trull complete an ideal environment for those looking for tradition, nature and a relaxed atmosphere, closely linked to local life.
Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera: the creative heart of the hinterland

Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera is one of those towns that conquer without making a sound!
It emerged, like many others, around its church, completed in 1797. Did you know that it has the largest bell tower of all the churches in Ibiza? Although it was not always like this, since it was added at the end of the nineteenth century.
The town centre retains its original structure and maintains a perfect balance between tradition and contemporary life.
Strolling through Santa Gertrudis is synonymous with calm: terraces in the square, craft shops, decoration, antiques and leather, and a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.
Despite being a small town, it has an intense social and cultural life, as well as sports facilities and community spaces. It is an ideal place to spend a quiet afternoon, browse local shops and charming small shops, and enjoy the closest and most everyday Ibiza.
The "giant" that watches over Puig d'en Valls

Located in the Pla de Vila, Es Puig d'en Valls is the southernmost nucleus of the municipality along with Jesús and one of the closest to the city of Ibiza.
Traditionally it was an agricultural area, with the typical dispersion of peasant houses, and it was not until the 30s of the twentieth century that the current nucleus began to form around its church. After visiting, you can take a walk along Es Camí des Pedrisset and admire the dry stone walls, a traditional construction technique declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Its most characteristic feature is the mountain that gives it its name, crowned by a beautiful restored flour mill (one of the few that preserves its complete machinery!) that he would be a worthy opponent of Don Quixote of La Mancha himself if he had visited the island in his adventures.
