Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas (Ibiza) has reached a new milestone in its commitment to sustainability by becoming the first agrotourism in Ibiza, and the second hotel after Six Senses Ibiza, to obtain the international Green Key certificate, reinforcing its position as one of the establishments most committed to sustainable tourism on the island.

This eco-label joins other recent recognitions, such as its inclusion in Beyond Green, the prestigious global collection of hotels committed to sustainable tourism, led by Preferred Travel Group, and the SICTED distinction granted by the Spanish State Secretariat for Tourism.

According to Lucas Prats, owner of Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas, “The Green Key certification is not an end but a logical result of more than two decades of work based on responsibility, authenticity, and love for our land.” He adds, “Receiving this recognition is a way to bring visibility to a tourism model that we believe is essential for the future of Ibiza.”

What is Green Key?

Green Key is an international certification promoted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and managed in Spain by the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (ADEAC). It originated in Denmark in 1994 and currently certifies over 5,000 establishments across more than 60 countries. Its objective is to promote sustainability in the tourism sector through the fulfillment of strict environmental, social, and management criteria.

The certification process includes technical audits and continuous improvement plans that range from efficient resource use to staff involvement, guest awareness, and respect for the local environment. Certified establishments must demonstrate a real commitment to sustainable practices in areas such as energy, water, waste, cleaning, food, and social responsibility, among others.

Can Lluc, a Sustainability Model with Ibicencan Identity

Located in the heart of the island, just minutes from Sant Rafel, Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas sits on a former family farm owned by Lucas Prats and Tina Soriano, carefully restored to preserve its historical and natural value. Since opening in 2003, the agrotourism establishment has embraced a comprehensive sustainability model based on respect for the environment, cultural heritage, and the development of the local economy.

Can Lluc generates a significant part of its energy through solar panels, manages its water cycle autonomously, and has replaced its gardens with native, low-water-consumption vegetation. In addition, it has progressively eliminated single-use plastics, implemented responsible consumption practices, and trained its staff in sustainability criteria. Information about its environmental policies is clearly communicated to guests upon arrival.

Commitment to the Environment, Culture, and Community

Can Lluc not only cares for its surrounding natural environment but also actively participates in the social and cultural life of the island. It collaborates with local associations such as the Colla de Ball Pagès, the Sant Rafel parish, and the local football club. It also takes part in environmental initiatives alongside organizations such as the Ibiza Preservation Fund, supporting the conservation of the native lizard Podarcis pityusensis, which is threatened by invasive species.

The rural hotel also stands out for its commitment to local gastronomy. The ingredients used in its culinary offerings come from local producers, the nearby sea, and its own estate, including extra virgin olive oil handcrafted from century-old olive trees. Its wines are sourced from Ibizan wineries such as Can Rich and Can Maymó, reinforcing its commitment to a circular economy and authentic products.

A Transformative Experience in the Most Authentic Ibiza

Beyond being a place of rest, Can Lluc offers experiences that connect visitors with the essence of rural Ibiza. Hiking along traditional trails, wellness retreats, intimate outdoor celebrations, and extended stays for digital nomads are all part of an offering that promotes regenerative and respectful tourism. Its philosophy focuses on creating a more conscious relationship between guests and the territory, steering away from mass tourism models.

Can Lluc thus reaffirms its role as an ambassador of sustainable tourism on the island and as a true haven with an Ibicencan soul.

Can Lluc, the Hotel of the Most Authentic Ibiza

Founded in 2003 by Tina Soriano and Lucas Prats on a 19th-century family farm, Can Lluc represents an emotional project with deep local roots. Sensitively restored by Ibicencan architect José Torres and decorated by local designers and artists, the hotel blends history and modernity, nature and comfort.

With 25 rooms —16 of them private villas surrounded by Mediterranean gardens—, Can Lluc offers guests a conscious disconnection experience in the heart of rural Ibiza, just 20 minutes from the island’s main attractions. Its services include a designer pool with a waterfall, a wellness area with massages, outdoor yoga classes, Balinese beds, a children's playground, and a local gastronomic proposal. All of this is designed to foster regenerative tourism that respects the environment.

This summer, rediscover the most genuine side of Ibiza at Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas. Let yourself be enveloped by the scent of pine and jasmine that fills the estate, stroll through century-old vineyards and almond fields, and enjoy stunning golden sunsets. When night falls, toast under the stars and listen to the whispers of an island that still preserves its soul. An authentic Ibiza, inspiring, emotional, and committed to a more sustainable future.
