World Multisport Championship Ibiza 2023
In Ibiza we are in luck because during these days the World Multisport Championship is being held on the island for the first time, something never seen in Ibiza to date. It started last April 28th at 18:00 with the inauguration of the event and it will last until May 7th with the end of all the races.
The first two events will took place in the municipality of Santa Eulalia, starting with the duathlon, on 29 and 30 April. During these days, around 1,100 participants are expected to take part in all the different categories (Elite, U23, Junior, ParaTriathlon, Age Group (Sprint (Drafting) and Standard (non-drafting) distances and Mixed Relay). After this event comes the aquathlon in the same municipality on 1 May. It consists of a 1,000 metre swim and a 5 km walk. With these events completed, we will move on to the next municipality.
The third event will be the cross duathlon, a different modality from the first event. It takes place in San Antonio on 3 May and includes the following categories: Elite, U23, Junior, Paratriathlon (only categories PTS2, PTS3, PTS4 and PTS5) and Age Groups. Around 400 participants are expected to take part in this event. The next event, in the same municipality, will be the cross triathlon with the following categories: Elite, U23, Junior, Paratriathlon (only categories PTS2, PTS3, PTS4 and PTS5) and Age Groups.
The last destination will be Ibiza for the last two races, which will be Aquabike Long Distance, and the closing race of this championship will be the Long Distance Triathlon. Both events will be held on the 7th of May. And after this day we will say goodbye to this great championship, which is of great importance for Ibiza, as it shows the whole world Ibiza as a destination of sport and committed to sustainability; which will help in the future the type of tourism on the island to be of better quality.
