Invisa Hoteles moves towards a more sustainable tourism model with clean energy, water conservation and waste reduction

The hotel group is transforming its facilities to reduce energy consumption and emissions, incorporating solar energy and strengthening its responsible resource management measures.
Invisa Hoteles continues to make progress in its commitment to a more responsible tourism model through a series of measures aimed at reducing its environmental impact and promoting more efficient resource management.
The company has been introducing improvements across its properties in Ibiza, Madrid and Barcelona, focusing on key areas such as energy consumption, water management, emissions and waste reduction, and staff training. A process which, in the company’s own words, means moving “from intentions to action” by transforming its facilities, measuring its impact and involving the people who make every stay possible.
A commitment to cleaner, more efficient energy
One of Invisa Hoteles’ main areas of action is the transition towards a cleaner and more efficient energy model. The company has moved away from using diesel to heat water and provide heating and cooling in its hotels, opting instead for systems that reduce energy consumption and avoid the direct combustion of fossil fuels.
One of the main measures introduced is the use of heat pumps to replace diesel boilers, maintaining guest comfort while reducing energy consumption.
This has been complemented by the installation of photovoltaic solar panels, allowing the hotels to generate part of the electricity they consume from solar energy, a particularly abundant resource in the Balearic Islands.
Energy efficiency also plays an important role in hotel renovations. The company is improving the thermal insulation of its buildings, introducing more efficient equipment and replacing existing lighting with lower-consumption systems. In addition, its properties hold the corresponding energy efficiency certificates, which provide a benchmark for further improvements.
In Ibiza, every drop counts
Responsible water management is another of the pillars of Invisa Hoteles’ environmental strategy, particularly in Ibiza, where water is an especially limited resource.
The company is working along two main lines: reducing consumption and improving measurement. To achieve this, flow restrictors have been installed on taps and showers, helping to reduce water consumption without compromising guest comfort.
In addition, Invisa Hoteles is introducing meters equipped with telemetry technology, allowing continuous monitoring of water consumption, faster detection of potential leaks and data-driven decision-making.
Measuring to reduce environmental impact
“What cannot be measured cannot be improved.” With this principle in mind, Invisa Hoteles has calculated its carbon footprint, providing an objective overview of where its emissions are concentrated and identifying the priority areas in which action is needed.
This calculation enables the company to set reduction targets and monitor progress over time.
The company is also working towards the gradual replacement of its hotel vehicles with electric models, helping to reduce both emissions and noise in the areas surrounding its properties.
Less waste and responsible waste management
Sustainability also means making better use of resources and reducing the amount of waste generated. In this area, Invisa Hoteles has developed a food waste reduction plan aimed at minimising the amount of food discarded in its kitchens and buffets.
The company also responsibly manages the waste generated at its properties, including hazardous waste, ensuring that it is correctly separated and treated.
These measures are complemented by the digitalisation of many day-to-day processes, helping to reduce paper consumption both at reception and in the hotels’ internal management.
People: a key part of sustainability
For Invisa Hoteles, sustainability is not limited to its facilities. People play a fundamental role in putting environmental measures into practice.
For this reason, its teams receive internal and external training in environmental best practices, with the aim of making sustainability part of the everyday work of every department.
The company also seeks to involve its guests by providing information and materials that encourage them to adopt small, responsible actions during their stay.
Four hotels have already been awarded the Green Key certification
Invisa Hoteles’ commitment to sustainability has also received international recognition. Four of its hotels have already been awarded Green Key certification, an international certification that assesses the environmental management of tourism establishments.
The hotels currently holding this certification are Invisa Hotel Es Pla - Adults Only and Invisa Hotel Club Cala Verde, in Ibiza; AC Carlton Madrid; and AC Som Barcelona.
Through these initiatives, Invisa Hoteles continues to integrate sustainability into the day-to-day management of its properties, with the aim of reducing its environmental impact, using resources more efficiently and promoting a more responsible approach to tourism.
