Total Solar Eclipse 2026 in Ibiza: Unique Experiences You Can’t Miss
Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas prepares to celebrate a historic solar eclipse with nature-inspired experiences

The rural hotel Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas, located in an elevated area in the heart of the island, is preparing to mark this historic event with a series of activities designed to reconnect guests with nature.
Ibiza is set to be one of the best destinations to witness the total solar eclipse on August 12. More than a century after the last observation in 1905, the island will once again host an astronomical phenomenon that ancient civilizations saw as a sign from the gods or a symbol of change and transformation.
Today, in the 21st century, many still feel captivated by this moment when daylight fades—an event that, while scientifically understood, continues to inspire awe and wonder among those who experience it.
The eclipse in Ibiza will coincide with sunset
Beyond the uniqueness of observing the eclipse in a magical setting surrounded by sea and mountains, in Ibiza this astronomical event will take place just before sunset. This will allow viewers to watch the eclipsed sun low on the horizon, almost touching the Mediterranean. If Ibiza’s sunsets are already world-famous, the one on August 12 promises to be truly unforgettable.
Unique experiences to enjoy the eclipse from morning to sunset
Although the total eclipse will last only about a minute—plunging the island into complete darkness—the full transition will unfold over approximately an hour and a half, from 19:39 to 20:50.
For those wishing to fully embrace the experience and extend this special encounter with the sun, Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas has designed a programme of activities focused on connecting with both nature and oneself.
According to Lucas Prats, owner of the hotel alongside Tina Soriano, “Can Lluc Boutique Country Hotel & Villas is built on a former family estate with more than 300 years of history. It is a place where my grandfather witnessed the 1905 eclipse, when Ibiza was still deeply rooted in the land. Today, we want to honour that memory by creating an experience that brings together our past with contemporary wellbeing, art and gastronomy, allowing each guest to experience the eclipse in a unique and unforgettable way.”
To begin the day, guests of this iconic property—named in 2025 the “Most Exclusive Independent Tourist Establishment in Spain” at the Mencey Futurista Awards—will be invited to take part in a yoga session where the sun salutation will take centre stage. The sound of birds and the gentle sea breeze will accompany them as they connect with their breath and a sense of calm.
During the morning, and in order to link the energy of the eclipse with creativity, the hotel will host a Tote Bag Workshop inspired by the sun, encouraging guests to create symbolic pieces and explore their artistic side.
At lunchtime, the hotel’s executive chef, Marga Prats, will delight guests with a special menu titled “Here Comes the Sun”, inspired by the iconic Beatles song and made using locally sourced ingredients.
Later in the afternoon, guests will be able to settle into the best viewing areas and, equipped with special glasses, enjoy a relaxed wait accompanied by ambient music and a Tequila Sunrise—the cocktail traditionally associated with the sun.
